WDA TN Annual conference was held on Saturday 1st November 2014 at Hotel JayaPushpam, Koyambedu. Registration started at 8.30 am. There were 118 Registrations for the conference.
Poster Presentation by UGs , PGs and Medical Practitioners started at 8.45am. There were 42 posters, 17 by UGs, 20 by PGs and 5 by Medical Practitioners. The Posters were judged by three experts Dr. Mythili Bhaskaran, Dr. Jayanthi and Dr. T.S. Jayashree.
Dr. S.Shantha. MD, Dean Tagore Medical College delivered a talk on ‘’ Current Concepts on Paediatric and Adolescent Iimmunization, Kalaimamani Mrs. Revathy Sankaran on ‘’Food that keeps the Doctor Away‘’, and Mrs. Letika Saran IPS (Retd ) on ‘’Safety for Woman“. The delibrations were followed by “The Inaugural Function’’.
Lighting of Kuthuvillaku followed by invocation song by Dr .H.Sripriya, Dr .S.Premalatha President WDA welcomed the gathering .
President read out the details of the two Endowments
Ms. Malathy Endowment – to any woman professional who has excelled in either her profession or in any other field like in Art, Science or Social service preferably over the age of 55.
Mr. Kasirajan Endowment is awarded to any woman doctor who has made her mark in her chosen field of medicine or in any other field of Arts, Science or Social service.
She introduced the recipient of Malathy Endowment Ms. Letika Saran IPS (Retd) to the audience.
Dr. P.Nagabooshanam Chief Guest and Dr. S.Premlatha President WDA bestowed upon Ms. Letika Saran the Award .
Secretary Dr. M.L.Shyamala introduced Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, recipient of Mr. Kasirajan Endowment. Chief guest, Dr. Shaanthy Gunasingh and the President bestowed upon Dr. Sudha Seshayyan the Endowment Medal.
President honoured the Chief guest Dr. P.Nagabooshanam with a Momento.
This was followed by the address of the Chief guest

Enhancing ‘’ SHE ‘’ potential
The General body meeting was held. The Secretary read out the minutes of GB meeting held on 20th October 2013, Report of WDA Activities 2013-2014 and Affiliation of WDA TN with WIA ( Women Indian Association).
The term of office for President, Vice President, Secretary Joint Secretay and Executive members was for two years and Treasurer for three years. As these office bearers were elected only last year they would continue in office for this year as well. Two Executive members Dr. Jeevarathinam and Dr. Meenakshi Arvind due to personal reasons were not willing to continue as EC members and election was held for these two posts. Dr. Sumithra Shanmugam and Dr. B.V.Sreedevi were elected unanimously for these places.
Secretary informed the members to visit the web site of WDA. A number of brochures were returned due to change of Address & also Email IDs of many members were not posted. She asked the members to check for correctness of their address, phone numbers and E mail IDs in the member list in the Website, for communication in future. She also asked the members as to what they can do for the Association and what they would like the Association to do for them in future apart from CMEs and Health camps. She requested all the members to associate themselves in all the WDA activities & Health camps.
Members were of the opinion that the Annual conference could be held in some other Districts like Madurai, Coimbatore instead of Chennai. This was a most welcome move if a member was willing to take up the responsibility in conducting it elsewhere.

GB meeting came to an end.
Mrs. Geetha Kannan, Yoga Therapist, Yoga Vaidyasala along with her team gave a Demonstration of Therapeutic Yoga.
Prizes for poster presentation were Announced. 3 for UGs, 3 for PGs and 2 for medical practitioners.
